Stories From the Field: Keeping Unauthorized People Off Your Jobsite

Stories from the Field Access Denied

At one of our customer's international airport construction projects on the West Coast, site security is critical, as large numbers of the public still visit the location daily. Recently, our customer encountered a situation that demonstrated the importance of our stringent access control measures.

One morning, a person arrived on-site presenting himself as "Bob," working for a specialty contractor authorized to be on site. Security checked his paperwork and ID, which matched, but when security scanned his ID using FCA’s access control solution, the scanner showed back a badge registered as "Sharon Jones." Security immediately turned Bob away and informed the site Safety Director.

A week later, the same person returned, this time calling himself "Jim." Once again, his paperwork and ID matched, but our scan identified him as "Sharon Smith." Again, the person was immediately turned away, and the site safety director was notified.

Our system immediately flagged the “Sharon Smith” profile and informed the general contractor safety team, who in turn notified the specialty contractor company. The construction team leveraged our system to identify an issue and prevent an unauthorized person from accessing the site—keeping workers and travelers safe!

How FCA Ensures Site Security

Onboarding and Credential Verification: Our system scans and verifies worker credentials in real-time, ensuring only authorized personnel access the site. This process prevents unauthorized access and enhances overall site security.

Real-Time Alerts: Our platform provides instant notifications about any discrepancies, allowing site safety teams to respond quickly. This feature ensures that any potential security threats are addressed immediately, maintaining a secure work environment.

Flagging and Reporting: We flag the worker’s profile when we identify discrepancies. We inform the general contractor’s safety team, who must notify the company about the reason for refusal. This process ensures that all parties know the issue and can take appropriate action.

By implementing these measures, we maintain a secure and safe worksite. Our access control technology prevents unauthorized access and enhances site security, ensuring that only credentialed workers can enter.
